Elect of God? Limited atonement is a Christian theological doctrine that affirms that Jesus Christ died on the cross only to save the elect (those predestined by God). This means that Christ's sacrifice had the specific and effective purpose of guaranteeing the salvation of a particular group of people, and not of all humanity without exception. Have you ever heard of TULIP? In Calvinism, it is an acronym in English created to summarize in a didactic way the "Five Points of Calvinism". This theological synthesis was formulated in the 17th century during the Synod of Dort to respond to the teachings of Jacob Arminius and defend the idea that salvation is an exclusive and sovereign work of God. No one knows who God's elect are, and their number is not limited by God. The elect are scattered throughout the earth. The question is: Are there signs of divine election or not? They exist, and they are clear in all those who truly not only believe, but genuinely obey God and His commandments in all their lives!

Holidays are a great time for good reading. So take a look at what TULIP actually represents and means. T - Total Depravity: Sin has corrupted all areas of the human being (mind, will, and emotions). Because of this, man is spiritually "dead" and is incapable, on his own, of choosing or seeking God. U - Unconditional Election: God chose, from before the foundation of the world, who would be saved. This choice is based exclusively on His will and mercy, and not on any merit, faith, or good works foreseen in the human being. L - Limited Atonement: The sacrifice of Jesus Christ on the cross had absolute efficacy and was made specifically to guarantee the salvation of the elect, and not of all humanity without exception. I - Irresistible Grace (Effective Calling): When God decides to save a person, the Holy Spirit works powerfully in their heart, overcoming their natural resistance to the Gospel and leading them to voluntarily believe in Christ. P - Perseverance of the Saints (Preservation): Those who have been truly chosen by God and called by His grace have received eternal life and are kept by the Holy Spirit, making it impossible for them to lose their salvation.

Wow! That's really cool. I liked it. But who formulated and organized it? TULIP wasn't created by John Calvin himself. The acronym in English was developed by theologians at the Synod of Dort (1618-1619). They created these five points as an official response to the teachings of Jacob Arminius, systematizing the soteriological view (doctrine of salvation) based on Calvin's teachings. And who was this noble gentleman? John Calvin (1509–1564) was a French theologian, pastor, and writer, considered one of the main leaders of the Protestant Reformation and the founder of Calvinism. His theology emphasized the absolute sovereignty of God, predestination, and the supreme authority of Scripture. His magnum opus, Institutes of the Christian Religion, published in 1536, is one of the most important texts of Protestantism, systematizing the Reformed faith and doctrines. Predestination: He taught that God predestined those who would be saved (the elect) and those who would be condemned, not by human merit, but by His will.

Leadership in Geneva: From Switzerland, Calvin transformed the city into a major intellectual and religious center, reforming the church and establishing a society with strong moral discipline, work ethic, and simplicity in worship. Global Legacy: His ideas profoundly influenced the development of Presbyterian and Reformed Churches, shaping social, political, and economic values in the modern world.
